⚓ General Approach (from Pensacola Bay / ICW)

  1. Enter Pensacola Bay
Most vessels will come in via Pensacola Pass (between Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key).
  2. Head west toward downtown Pensacola
Follow the main marked channel across the bay. Stay within markers—shoaling can occur outside the channel.
  3. Pick up Bayou Chico channel
As you approach the downtown waterfront, turn north into Bayou Chico.
    • This is a clearly marked channel just west of the main downtown harbor area.
  4. Proceed up Bayou Chico
Continue north/northwest following channel markers. Depths are generally adequate for most recreational vessels, but always watch your draft and tides.
  5. Locate Pensacola Marine Center
The marina will be on the east side of Bayou Chico near the upper portion of the bayou.
    Look for:
    • Boatyard facilities (travel lift, service yard)
    • Docks and slips extending into the bayou

📍 Navigation Tips

  • Approx coordinates: 30.4075, -87.2558
  • Chart reference: NOAA Chart 11382 (Pensacola Bay area)
  • Call ahead on VHF (typically Channel 16 or working channel) for slip or haul-out instructions
  • Watch for:
    • Commercial/service traffic in the bayou
    • No-wake zones as you get closer inland
    • Fixed bridges further north (not an issue if stopping at the marine center)
